Mulawella Rock | Sinharaja Forest 

Mulawella Rock is the fourth highest rock situated within the Sinharaja (Lion king) forest in Sri Lanka. The trail to the peak falls through the thick forest. One has to take all the precautions  for protecting oneself from leaches. The friendly guides of the park provides you with all the necessary information. 

The visitor also gets an opportunity to see a number of rare plants and different animal species. The pitcher plant is a common sight here. Also we could see a tree by the name 'waldurian'. 

The legends behind Mulawella 

There are several legends associated with the name of the rock. Some villagers say that this area was home to a kind of creepers called 'manmula vel' (vel in sinhala meaning creepers). It is said that those who step on them in a forest are sure to get lost. Hence the name 'mulawella' derives from 'manmula vel'. 

The viewpoint 

The viewpoint provides you a life time experience. The visitor can have a clear aerial view of the surrounding mountains and the forest from up there.

Dedugala in Bulathkohupitiya , Kegalle

 Dedugala is a small village situated within the Bulathkohupitiya Local Council area in the Kegalle district. 

The blogger together with five friends visited Dedugala on the 28th July 2025. We started the journey from Attanagalla on motorcycles. The distance from Attanagalla to Dedugala is 56 Km. We travelled via Urapola, Ruwanwella, Kaluwella and Bulathkohupitiya. The complete distance was a motorable one. We could reach our destination within one and half hours.

Old Dedugala town

On our way, we did not forget to visit the old Dedugala town. The town looks more like a ghost town today. As I came to know from a villager the reason for deserting the town was due to the transport and other difficulties people had to face. 

Bathing Point | Besama | A waterfall in Lunugala

Best Bathing Place in Lunugala Passara, Sri Lanka

It is situated about 500 m from the main rain road. The road is motorable for motorcycles , cars and vans. 

Besama meaning 'bathing tub' in Sinhalese is a mini waterfall situated at Lunugala near Passara. There are spots of mini pools created by the running waters of the waterfall. The pools are safe and not deep. The Lunugala Local council has erected a hut closer to the bathing point for the convenience of the visitor. 

It is a safe bathing point for all age groups.

Sembuwatta Lake | Sri Lanka | Matale

Sembuwatta Lake is one of the most popular tourist attractions located at Elkaduwa, in the Matale District of Sri Lanka, adjacent to the Campbell's Lane Forest Reserve. Sembuwatta Lake is a man-made lake created from natural spring water. Alongside the lake is a natural swimming pool. Sembuwatta Lake is believed to be 9 m to 12 m deep.

Madolsima | Mini World's End | Punchi Lokanthaya

Madolsima situated in the Uva province closer to Passara (18 miles)  in the Badulla district can be described as one of the most picturesque mountain villages in Sri Lanka. The mesmerizing views of the mountains covered with tea plantations adds an indelible experience to life.

The blogger  made a motorbike tour to the Madosima Mini World's End on the Badulla-Passara rout on the 18th March 2025. 

The trail to Madolsima falls through tea estates. The mild climate does not make the visitor weary. The area is basically unpopulated. The majority community comprises of Tamil estate workers. The villagers are friendly with visitors. You don't find many shops on the way. 

However, the rout from Passara to the Mini World's End is motorable. It should be noted that due to the narrow winding nature of the stretch of the road , one has to be cautious all the time. A visitor can also take a bus from Passara to Madolsima and hire a Trishaw to the Mini World's End which is around 6 Km away. The main mode of transport in the area seemed to be Trishaw. 

There is a filling station at Madolsima. It is a great relief for the visitors. The police station is also located in the Madolsima town.

Bomburuella | Bomburu Falls

Bomburu Ella is the widest waterfall (20m) with a height of around 50 m situated in the Uva Paranagama Divisional Secretariate bordering Nuwara Eliya and Badulla districts in Sri Lanka.
