The beach at Panama has a mesmerizing effect on any nature lover. This stretch of the beach is not so crowded. Therefore the visitor can enjoy the rolling waves at leisure. The photographs here bear witness to this fact. The shallow sea here is safe for children. If you want to enjoy the true beauty of the environment you must visit here in the evening, with the sun set. The sun set creates a breath taking view as the one you see here. About the environment, the place is not polluted. I did not note any trash littering the beach.
One cannot easily take one's eyes away from the sea. Automatically your eyes get glued to the beautiful sea and the gently rolling waves.
The joy of children is overflowing with the waves embracing their feet.

One gets the feeling of travelling in an Arabian desert. According to the villagers the dunes had protected the area from the recent Tsunami which devastated most coastal areas of the island. So the villagers talk of the dunes with awe and respect.

Ampitiya Dewala-Panama
The Paththini Dewala is the holiest place at Panama. The whole village get together during the annual festival time. It is the belief of the villager that the annual festival invokes blessings on Panama. The village of Panama was spared during the recent Tsunami. It is the fervent belief of the villager that they were protected by the goddess Paththini. Most people say that they were warned by some stranger to leave the village minutes before the disaster and thus their lives were saved. The villagers have an awe inspiring respect for this place.

Ampitiya Dewala Video
The place where the traditional Ankeliya: a traditional team sport for which only men participate, is held. The wooden forks which are used for the sport could be seen here.
The pit you see here is known as the 'henawala'. It is used during the traditional Pththinidewala festival.
This aged old log known as 'henakanda' which lies in a corner of the Dewala premises plays an important role during the traditional festival.
A journey to The Panama Village Tank
The villagers often come to this tank with their families , catch fish prepare their meals and enjoy. The tank helps the villagers relax and maintain the unity of their families. Children have fun while the elders engage in their friendly chats while busily preparing the meals.
